Arsenal suffered a poor defeat to Newcastle United, in a game in which very few players impressed.
Bukayo Saka and Thomas Partey were two of the only players who came away with any credit, as an Alexander Isak winner consigned Arsenal to a limp defeat.
Mikel Arteta’s side lacked any creativity, and it was another dire display as they failed to produce chances in front of goal.
Newcastle only had one huge chance, but Isak took his goal superbly after an outstanding cross from Anthony Gordon. Arsenal’s centre-backs could do little more after such a quality goal, but one of them is now frustrated.

William Saliba slams his own display after Arsenal defeat
Speaking to Premier League Productions after the game, William Saliba admitted that he was not good enough against Newcastle, and claimed that Arsenal will improve if he raises his own level.
“I have to be better than my last game. I was not so good. I have to be back at my good level. After I will be good we will better but I have to work to get back to my best level,” he stated.
Saliba is wrong though. He could do little about the goal given Isak’s movement, and Arsenal’s main issues were in attack, not defence.
Even if Saliba was at his best, Arsenal’s creative issues will not have been solved, and he has also given his verdict on his side’s display overall.
William Saliba admits Arsenal deserved to lose against Newcastle
Arsenal had a chance to equalise late on through Declan Rice, but they were toothless in front of goal beyond that, and Saliba has claimed that his side did not deserve anything from the game.
“We are all a bit sad because we wanted to win today. Unfortunately we didn’t and we didn’t play the game we wanted to play. We deserved to lose today I think,” he added.
“I think we didn’t play how we wanted to play and they were good as well. It’s OK, we are focused on the next week and it is not finished.”
Arsenal are falling further behind in the title race, and will need to solve their recent poor run if they are to catch up with Manchester City.
