Only four games into the season, and the Premier League title race is already being spoken about.
Arsenal returned from the September international break with a message for any doubters, beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta’s side played with a new level of intensity and intricacy, which had a lot to do with the new-look front three.
Eberechi Eze was a dream for Viktor Gyokeres on the left, and on the other side, Noni Madueke was a constant threat, with Arsenal benefiting from their work in the summer transfer window.

Shay Given thinks Arsenal’s squad depth can win them the Premier League
The win over Forest was one that shone a light on Arsenal’s summer signings.
Martin Zubimendi scored a brace, the front three were dazzling, and at the back, Cristhian Mosquera filled in seamlessly for William Saliba.
Added to that, Arteta was able to rest Declan Rice by starting Mikel Merino in midfield, changes to the starting XI that flexed Arsenal’s improved squad depth.
The way Andrea Berta bolstered the Gunners’ options in the summer is the reason why pundit Shay Given thinks Arsenal have a real chance to win the Premier League title.
Analysing the game on BBC’s Match of the Day, Given drew attention to just how strong the Arsenal squad is.
“This is probably the strongest squad Arteta has had; this is their opportunity, I feel, to win the Premier League this season,” he said.
“If they can keep the majority of the squad fit. He’s built a really strong squad, and he must believe, they must believe, it’s their year.”
What the win over Forest showed was that there are little to no points of weakness in the Arsenal squad, with the absent key players not even remotely missed against top-quality opposition.
Arsenal were without four of last season’s starters
Arteta won’t want to entertain any talk about the Premier League title race so early into the season, but it’s already clear to see that Arsenal will be close to the summit.
If last season the Gunners had gone into the game against Forest without Bukayo Saka, Rice, Saliba and having Martin Odegaard go off injured in the 18th minute, the odds would’ve been stacked against them.

Matchday four instead showed that there’s no longer a gap between first and second choice, which is music to Arsenal’s ears.
The improvement of squad depth was integral in the summer, and by sufficiently equipping Arteta’s squad, Berta has given the North Londoners a greater chance at fighting for the top prizes.
