Arsenal are now just one game away from making history.

Mikel Arteta’s side head into the Champions League final against PSG knowing victory would secure the first European Cup in the club’s history.

The build-up to the game has been dominated by predictions from former Arsenal players and legends who know exactly what this occasion means.

Kai Havertz has already declared that Arsenal will win, while Arsene Wenger has backed his former side too, despite describing the final as a 50-50 contest.

Now, Sol Campbell has offered his own prediction.

Sol Campbell predicts the score in Arsenal’s Champions League final against PSG

Campbell knows better than most what it takes to perform in massive matches for Arsenal.

The former defender was part of the side that reached the Champions League final in 2006 and remains one of the greatest centre-backs to ever wear the famous red and white shirt.

That is why Arsenal supporters will pay close attention whenever he speaks about the club’s chances of lifting major trophies.

Like most people, Campbell recognises just how dangerous PSG are.

Luis Enrique’s side have quality all over the pitch and possess a forward line capable of hurting any team in world football when given space to attack.

However, despite respecting the French champions, Campbell believes Arsenal can find a way to get the job done.

When asked what his gut was telling him ahead of the final, he predicted a dramatic victory for Arteta’s side.

Campbell told The Guardian: “It would be incredible if we can get a 3-2 win.

“But we’ve got to find a way to quieten down their front line. They are very good when they find space.”

That scoreline would certainly not be good for the nerves of Arsenal supporters, but nobody would care how the trophy is won if Arteta’s side are lifting it at the end of the night.

Arsenal simply have to score the first goal against PSG

If there is one thing Arsenal must do in Budapest, it is score first.

PSG are at their most dangerous when games become stretched and chaotic because that creates space for their attackers to exploit.

If Arsenal take the lead, they can control the game far more comfortably and force PSG to take risks in search of an equaliser.

That would create openings for the likes of Bukayo Saka, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze to attack on the counter.

However, if PSG score first, the entire dynamic changes because Arsenal would then have to force the initiative and commit more bodies forward.

That would leave dangerous spaces behind for PSG’s front line to exploit, which is exactly the scenario Arteta will want to avoid.
