Arsenal secured a convincing 3-0 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League.

The Gunners were always going to be the favourites to emerge victorious in Belgium, but Mikel Arteta had several key players unavailable due to fitness issues.

Arsenal were so weakened that Christian Norgaard had to play at centre-back, which was far from ideal, but the Dane did well.

However, the standout player against Brugge was Noni Madueke. Thierry Henry loved what he did.

Thierry Henry hails Noni Madueke after his screamer for Arsenal vs Club Brugge

Madueke was handed a start ahead of Bukayo Saka on the right wing when Arsenal took on Club Brugge.

The Englishman caused a lot of noise when he joined the club in the summer. He wasn’t a popular choice back then, but that changed very quickly.

Many people, including Wayne Rooney, admitted that they were wrong about Madueke, and the winger is getting better and better every week now.

On Wednesday night against Brugge, Madueke was brilliant. He scored a stunning goal to give his side the lead in the first half and followed that up with a simple header in the second to complete his brace.

The first goal is what everyone has been talking about, even Arsenal legend Henry.

The Frenchman was amazed by the strike, but what impressed him even more was the strength Madueke showed to leave Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys on the floor before he charged forward.

Henry said on CBS Sports: “Noni Madueke! What can you do? Can you create something when your team cannot help you? That’s exactly what he did.

“Takes the ball, said to the player from Brugge, ‘go to the gym’, gets inside and smashes it off the crossbar. I love that! Create something out of nothing. Well done, Madueke!”

He later added: “This is what I’m saying. What can you do? Can you create something out of nothing?

“Again, Noni Madueke sending a player to the gym first, turns, goes back inside and then he had one thing on his mind, to strike that ball in. What a goal!”

Mikel Arteta has a major Arsenal headache after Club Brugge clash

Like every other manager, Arteta loves competition among his players in the squad, and he has it now more than ever before at Arsenal.

The Gunners have at least two top-class players in every position, and when everyone is fit, it will not be easy for the Arsenal manager to pick his starting line-up.

Even with many still injured, Arteta has a big headache ahead of the game against Wolves this weekend – who starts on the right wing?

Madueke was the Man of the Match against Club Brugge, but Saka is Arsenal’s first-choice right-winger and usually gets the nod in that role.

It will be interesting to see who starts against Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.
