Many Arsenal players over the years have proven people wrong.
Mikel Arteta often gets criticised for some of his signings. The likes of Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, David Raya, Leandro Trossard and Mikel Merino, among others, have all come under fire over the years.
However, every one of the above players made their critics eat their words with their performances for the Gunners.
Now, another one is doing exactly that.
Wayne Rooney admits Arsenal star Noni Madueke has changed his mind
Like many other pundits, Wayne Rooney had an opinion about Arsenal signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea.
When news emerged that the Gunners were considering a move for the England winger, Arteta came under enormous criticism.
Numerous people in the game told the Arsenal manager not to sign him, but Arteta ignored everyone and brought him in.
That has proved to be the right decision as Madueke has been excellent in his first few games in the famous red and white.
He has filled in for Bukayo Saka so well on the right wing that the Gunners have barely missed their number seven.
Rooney, who wasn’t at all convinced by Madueke, has now admitted that he was wrong.
He said on The Wayne Rooney Show: “Yeah, I think he’s been fantastic. I still had my doubts about him, I’ll be honest, when he was at Chelsea. And then when Arsenal signed him, I was thinking, I’m not really too sure.
“Obviously, they have Saka there as well. But I think he’s been fantastic. I think the start of the season, how direct he’s been, and for England, I thought he played really well as well.
“So it looks like really good business for Arsenal.”

Mikel Arteta will soon have a big Noni Madueke dilemma
Madueke has been tremendous for Arsenal recently, even though he is yet to register a goal or an assist.
The England international has tormented every left-back he has come up against, and it’s only a matter of time before he opens his account.
As things stand, Madueke is one of the first names on the team sheet, but things will change once Saka returns to full fitness.
The Arsenal number seven is the best player at the club, and we just can’t see a world in which he doesn’t start when he’s fully fit.
That will leave Arteta with a major dilemma, and it will be interesting to see how he will handle that situation in the coming weeks.
