It was so clear how much Viktor Gyokeres needed his goal against Inter Milan, as the Arsenal striker let out a scream of relief after putting the Gunners 3-1 up.
Given the negative talk about Gyokeres, Arsenal fans would’ve taken a goal of any manner to get the forward’s numbers up.
It just so happened that the Swede converted a 25-yard curler into the top corner at San Siro, giving him the confidence boost he so desperately needed.
After a tough week of scrutiny, Gyokeres has three goal contributions in his last three matches for the Gunners, a situation that every Arsenal fan wanted to unfold, including the most high-profile Gooner.

It’s time to vote for Arsenal’s Man of the Match against Inter Milan 🔥
Thierry Henry reacts to Viktor Gyokeres’ goal against Inter Milan
All supporters want to see is Gyokeres settle and score at the club with the number 14 on his back.
Having claimed Thierry Henry’s famous shirt number, it’s fitting to see the 27-year-old score big goals for Arsenal.
Gyokeres got Henry’s approval, as the Arsenal legend shared how he felt when watching the summer signing score at San Siro.
“I think we all felt some kind of a relief when he scored, some type of happiness,” Henry said on CBS Sports.
He added, “I think we were all happy for him with what’s been happening to him at the minute.”
The Frenchman went on to celebrate the performance of the two Arsenal strikers, as Gabriel Jesus scored a brace before Gyokeres was introduced.
“You know, sometimes when you’re at a club, and you have the other striker that scores. Who’s going to score? That’s healthy competition.”
Things will only get better for Mikel Arteta’s side if Gyokeres builds form, as aside from competition with Jesus, Kai Havertz is back in the picture after returning from injury.
Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United is key for Gyokeres
Gyokeres has scored three goals in five Champions League appearances for Arsenal this season, with his goals coming against Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan – not bad, right?
The real challenge, however, and the one that fans are desperate to see him overcome, is finding form in the Premier League.
If you were Mikel Arteta, how would you solve this problem?
Gyokeres hasn’t scored in the league from open play since November 1st, but what better opportunity to make his struggles a thing of the past than against Manchester United?
Quite frankly, a goal would be desired, but it’s not particularly necessary, as even just a good performance would be a plus right now.
With Arsenal’s fierce rivals visiting N5, all eyes will be on whether Gyokeres can prove to his doubters that he can be a source of goals in the English top flight at long last.
