Troy Deeney has an idea of what the scoreline will be between Arsenal and Newcastle United on matchday six.
Arsenal have endured a tough start to the season, having already faced three of last season’s top seven.
On top of that, the Gunners travelled to Old Trafford on matchday one, beating Manchester United 1-0 in a challenging game.
The tough away days aren’t over yet for Arsenal, who, after facing Liverpool on the road, will travel even further north to battle Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Troy Deeney predicts Arsenal to beat Newcastle United
It’s always a challenge when Arsenal face Newcastle, particularly in the North East.
The Gunners will be particularly eager to win this time around, having dropped points on matchday five.
Theo Walcott thinks Arsenal will beat Newcastle, despite the fact that Mikel Arteta has won just one of his previous three Premier League trips to St James’ Park.
It’s been 1-0 defeats in the North Londoners’ previous two visits to Newcastle, but Troy Deeney agrees with Walcott, predicting Arsenal to secure a win.
“Well, this is interesting because last year Newcastle had Arsenal’s number, didn’t they?” Deeney said on The Football Exchange podcast.
“I’m going to say Arsenal win in a tightly, highly contested game. I’m going to say Arsenal win 3-2.”
It was a bold prediction from Deeney, particularly when taking a glance at the history of the fixture.
Arsenal haven’t scored more than two goals at St James’ Park since 2011
The last time Arsenal won at St James’ Park in a Premier League contest was in May 2023, winning 2-0 at the ground.
Since then, it’s been consecutive 1-0 defeats, but that’s not the reason why Deeney’s prediction is ambitious.
Deeney thinks Arsenal will win 3-2 on matchday six, which would mark the first time that the Gunners had scored more than two goals at St James’ Park since February 2011.
Ironically, the last time Arsenal scored more than three goals away to Newcastle in the Premier League was in the jaw-dropping 4-4 draw.
That day, Arsenal hearts were broken by the late, great Cheick Tiote, who netted the equaliser to seal Newcastle’s comeback from four goals down.
Arteta will certainly hope for a more routine fixture on matchday six, but as we know, the Premier League is full of surprises.
