It was yet another dismal day at the office for Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres and judging by his latest showing, the time has come for him to be dropped.

Gyokeres might have bundled one into the net against Chelsea in midweek but against Nottingham Forest, he was once again way off the pace.

The Swedish star has struggled all season and we are now at a point where we seriously have to question his place in the starting XI.

What was your immediate reaction after Gabriel Martinelli missed this sitter?

Miss of the season?

In fact, there was one key moment in the 40th minute at the City Ground that pretty much summed up his time at Arsenal so far.

Viktor Gyokeres shows in one moment why he needs dropping

Arsenal fans around the world are willing Viktor Gyokeres to be a success and he does do some of the ugly stuff well at times.

However, he is paid to score goals in big moments and he showed against Forest today that as of right now, he’s not up to it.

One key moment which highlighted this came in the 40th minute as a mistake from Forest defender Murillo on halfway allowed Gyokeres a golden chance.

The Swede did latch onto the ball well but from there, it was very haphazard. A poor opening touch with his chest put the ball under his feet and he then needed an extra touch instead of being able to burst into full sprint to get away.

From there, Murillo had managed to make some ground and as Gyokeres approached the edge of the box, he simply never looked like scoring.

Sure enough, Gyokeres then hit a bundled effort which was deflected wide by Murillo.

In one small moment, he showed just why he’s not the man at the moment for Arsenal and with it, added weight to the cause of him being dropped.

Gabriel Jesus and Mikel Merino can offer more for Arsenal

It might feel like we are jumping on every little thing that Gyokeres does and criticising him.

But when you have paid north of £60m for a striker and he isn’t doing the business, the spotlight is always going to be on him.

Do you think Arsenal’s Invincibles record will ever be broken? If yes, by who?

This is more about a specific moment summing up Gyokeres as a whole and in all honesty, Gabriel Jesus is offering more in his cameos at the moment while even Mikel Merino is offering more when he plays.

Ultimately, Mikel Arteta is now faced with a big decision on Gyokeres. Does he keep faith? Or does he bite the bullet and admit that for now, it’s just not working.
