In the summer of 2020, Arsenal sold Martinez to Aston Villa, and since then, some of his antics during games between the two sides have really annoyed Gunners fans.

Emiliano Martinez was getting on the nerves of Arsenal supporters at the Emirates.
The Aston Villa star, like he always does, resorted to time-wasting very early in the game. He wanted to slow things down as much as possible, and the referee did not intervene, which was strange.
That continued at the start of the second period as well, but as soon as Gabriel Magalhaes opened the scoring after Martinez’s mistake, the goalkeeper wanted to get on with things.
The World Cup winner was seen demanding the ball every time it went out for a goal kick and was not prepared to waste a single second.
At the other end, after Arsenal were 4-0 up, David Raya pulled off an incredible save to deny John McGinn from close range. The home fans then directed their chants at Martinez.
“He’s better than you, he’s better than you, David Raya, he’s better than you,” could be heard across the Emirates.
Martinez was clearly not happy.

Aston Villa’s 11-game unbeaten run came to an end against Arsenal, and that made many people upset.
Unai Emery refused to shake Mikel Arteta’s hand after the game, while Martinez was involved in an incident with the home fans after the final whistle too.
As he was walking down the tunnel, Arsenal supporters taunted the goalkeeper, and he wasn’t happy about it.

Footage across social media shows Martinez really angry and shouting back at the fans. He had to be held back by a member of the Aston Villa staff and was escorted inside.
Reacting to the incident, one Arsenal supporter tweeted: “Emi Martinez has absolutely lost it at the Arsenal fans at full-time.”
“Emi Martinez getting absolutely rattled by some Arsenal fans haha,” wrote another.
