Mikel Arteta has named his Arsenal team to take on Crystal Palace in midweek as the EFL Cup quarter-finals get underway.

A place in the final four is up for grabs at the Emirates Stadium, with the Eagles standing in the way of the Gunners reaching that stage.

Arsenal last reached the EFL Cup quarter-final in 2022, when they managed to win and book a spot in the EFL Cup semi-final.

There will be some hope that Mikel Arteta can repeat that feat this time around, with pressure building on the head coach to lift silverware this season.

Arsenal team news and injuries vs Crystal Palace

Heading into Arsenal’s clash with Crystal Palace, there was a bit of team news and a few injury updates to speak of.

Declan Rice was declared injury-free by Mikel Arteta for the match, following his early substitution against Everton.

Meanwhile, Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu were all ruled out through injury.

When it came to the team picked by Arteta, there was a notable absence as Rice wasn’t in the squad at all.

With the midfielder seemingly free from injury, it seems as though it was a decision to rest him during a busy period.

The team selection also saw starts for Kieran Tierney – who makes his first Arsenal start in 584 days – and Raheem Sterling, with the pair finally getting a chance to impress.

There were places for Jakub Kiwior, Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey at the back, giving rest to Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.

Meanwhile, both Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka were rested during a busy period, with Ethan Nwaneri given a chance to impress.

Crystal Palace team selection against Arsenal

As for Crystal Palace, one change is enforced for Oliver Glasner as Daniel Munoz is suspended after picking up too many yellow cards.

A return for Eddie Nketiah has seen him feature against Arsenal for the first time since he confirmed a transfer to the Eagles, though he starts on the bench.

Glasner has typically played a strong team in the EFL Cup, a theme that continues with his selection on Wednesday night.

There are starts for Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta, while youngster Caleb Kporha is given a chance in the backline.
