Arsenal fans were left extremely frustrated with the referee and the match officials after a 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

The Gunners were piling on the pressure to earn a potential win late on in the game but saw two big decisions go against them.

Arsenal won two big headers around the Liverpool box, which led to Anthony Taylor blowing the whistle for a foul.

In an attempt to keep pushing, both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus played on and eventually put the ball in the back of the net.

However, as the whistle was blown so quickly, there was no chance for VAR to overturn and make a decision on the goal.

It meant Mikel Arteta’s team had to keep pushing, with a clear corner for the Gunners given as a goal kick, infuriating Jesus.

Gabriel Jesus booked for fuming at referee Anthony Taylor

After the game, an angry Jesus approached referee Taylor and his on-pitch officials to fume about the decisions.

In that brawl of players around the referees, the Brazilian forward was booked after the full-time whistle for his protests.

It outlined the frustration Arsenal had at those decisions as a whole, with the Emirates Stadium booing in unison as the officials walked away.

The Gunners will feel especially hard done by after suffering from some questionable decisions already this season.

Arsenal draw keeps them firmly in the Premier League title race

While there have been some difficulties for Arsenal in the past week or so, a draw isn’t the worst result for them against Liverpool.

On one hand, there will no doubt be some frustration that the team didn’t do more in the second half when leading.

On the other, there were some impressive spells on the ball when the team had a makeshift backline and injury doubts in the forward line.

It leaves the Gunners in third, five points behind Manchester City and four points behind Liverpool in the race for the title.

While it isn’t an ideal position, it isn’t one where the side are out of the battle completely, but a return to victories is needed soon.

A trip to Newcastle and Chelsea before the international break will give a huge taste of where the team are in this race, regardless of those injuries and refereeing decisions.
