Arsenal secured three points against Leicester in a chaotic victory at the Emirates, which saw the home side dominate proceedings.

Despite Arsenal’s sheer dominance, they found themselves drawing 2-2 after an excellent brace from Leicester defender James Justin.

Ethan Nwaneri came on to give Arsenal an extra attacking threat, and they secured the victory in injury time, with Leandro Trossard bundling the ball in via a Leicester defender before Kai Havertz rounded off the scoring.

Bukayo Saka delivered a sensational performance, and many thought he had broken an all-time Premier League record, but he has now been denied the honour.

Premier League stop Bukayo Saka from breaking assist record in Arsenal win

Arsenal’s third goal saw Saka fire in another deadly corner, which Trossard forced into the back of the net, and if this was truly the case, the Englishman would have broken an incredible record.

It would have counted as Saka’s sixth assist in the opening six games of the season, and he would have become the first player ever to record a Premier League assist in each of the opening six matches.

However, the Premier League then confirmed that rather than being Trossard’s goal and Saka’s assist, it was actually an own goal from Wilfried Ndidi, with Trossard’s shot directed in by the Leicester midfielder.

Saka will not be too disheartened though, as he still delivered a masterclass and helped his side to all three points.

Bukayo Saka’s assist record this season

Saka has still recorded five assists in six Premier League games this season, a truly remarkable feat. His first came in Arsenal’s first goal of the campaign, with his excellent cross finding Kai Havertz to nod in the opener against Wolves at the Emirates.

The England star then set up Thomas Partey to fire in a fierce shot in a victory at Aston Villa, before he found Havertz with a dinked pass to open the scoring against Brighton.

The winger then crossed for Gabriel Magalhaes to head in from corners in back-to-back games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Had Trossard’s goal counted, Saka would have had the best start to a season ever in terms of assists, and could have chased Mesut Ozil’s record of assisting in seven consecutive Premier League games.
