Arsenal were held to a disappointing draw against Brentford at the Emirates on Saturday evening.

The Gunners largely dominated the first half, but were unable to find an opener, as Kieran Tierney’s header was ruled out for offside.

However, they eventually found the breakthrough when Declan Rice strode forward following a Brentford corner, feeding Thomas Partey, who slammed home.

The bees equalised not long after when Yoane Wissa swept past David Raya from close range.

The North Londoners pushed for a winner, but were ultimately unable to find it, leaving them ten points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal player ratings vs Brentford

David Raya – 7

Made a good save from Kristoffer Ajer in the first half, but was largely untested. His great distribution got Rice running away for the Partey goal.

Thomas Partey – 7

Deployed out of position at right-back, Partey was steady in the role, not getting exposed defensively but not contributing massively going forward. However, a fantastic lung-bursting run saw him score the opener.

William Saliba – 8

Some excellent recovery runs throughout the game, as well as some brilliant bursts forward from defence. Solid.

Jakub Kiwior – 6

Got caught out of position on a few occasions but generally a steady display from the Pole.

Kieran Tierney – 4

Unfortunate to have a goal ruled out for offside in the first half, but generally a rusty performance from Tierney. Hooked just after the hour mark.

Jorginho – 7

Dictated the tempo of the game from the base of Arsenal’s midfield, playing some lovely balls in between the lines.

Declan Rice – 7

After Wednesday night’s heroics, Rice jogged through this game for large periods. However, he did provide an excellent assist for Partey’s goal.

Oleksandr Zinchenko – 6

It took him a bit of time to get used to the midfield role he was given, but once he did, the Ukrainian played some delightful passes.

Ethan Nwaneri – 6

Some bright moments, but Brentford were able to keep him largely quiet.

Leandro Trossard – 6

Peeled off into some dangerous positions in and around the box and looked lively. However, the Belgian faded massively in the second period.

Gabriel Martinelli – 7

Didn’t do a huge amount on the ball, but some excellent diagonal runs that caused Brentford issues throughout.

Substitues

Myles Lewis-Skelly – 7

Showed his strength and ability to carry the ball nicely on a few occasions.

Martin Odegaard – 6

Some nice touches, but not quite able to influence the game in the way he’d have hoped.

Bukayo Saka – 6

Should’ve take a shot when nicking the ball off of Mark Flekken, but looked lively.

Jurrien Timber – n/a

Mikel Merino – n/a
