Arsenal go into the summer transfer window as Premier League champions and with it, the chance to attract players ahead of the rest.

Mikel Arteta is keen on keeping things going at The Emirates and that means moving certain players and bringing in fresh faces.

As usual, a new attacking player – predominantly someone who can play down the left – remains a high priority for Arteta.

As we already know, Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi is a player of interest.

And according to journalist Christian Falk, discussions are already underway.

Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta are both big fans of Eli Junior Kroupi

Kroupi has been a revelation with the Cherries this season, scoring 13 goals to fire Bournemouth into Europe.

Now, Arsenal could be about to accelerate their interest, with Falk reporting that both Berta and Arteta are big fans of the young forward.

“That’s true, he’s definitely very high up on the list. I’ve heard Mikel Arteta is a fan of his. Sporting director Andrea Berta thinks he’s very, very good. Arsenal wants to invest in that position. 100 million is already being discussed,” Falk commented.

“So, I have the feeling that, I think, with Kroupi, it’s too late (for Bayern). You hear it all the time, that half of England are after him.

“I have a feeling he’ll stay in England . I’m curious to see who wins the race. Arsenal are certainly in the running.”

With Kroupi undoubtedly one of the hottest young talents in English football right now – arguably even in Europe – Arsenal are likely to face a battle to sign him.

However, their status as champions, in addition to Mikel Arteta working well with young players, should give the Gunners an advantage.

That, plus the added riches of being champions and reaching a major European final should also ensure Arsenal can put together a good financial package for Kroupi.

If he does sign, then there’ll be natural comparisons to a certain Thierry Henry. Indeed, if Kroupi can achieve half of what Henry has, then he’ll have done just fine.
