While Arsenal’s Premier League title rivals strengthen their squads, the Gunners are unlikely to enter the January transfer window.

Andrea Berta rarely used the January market at Atletico Madrid, and in his first season at Arsenal, it’s likely to be business as usual.

The Gunners have the best squad in the Premier League this season, thanks to the eight players signed in the summer transfer window; however, Mikel Arteta will be wary of what those around Arsenal are up to.

Manchester City have strengthened with two Arsenal targets, Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi, which is also what Aston Villa have just done.

Tammy Abraham’s family once wanted him to join Arsenal

For £18m, Aston Villa have signed Tammy Abraham, the striker Arsenal wanted to sign in 2021.

Since leaving Chelsea for good that year, Abraham has been on quite the journey in Italy and Turkey, but now, he’s back home in England.

The Englishman’s seven goals on loan at Besiktas convinced Unai Emery to bring the striker to Villa Park, strengthening Arsenal’s title rivals, but things could have been so different.

As relayed by TBR, it was once revealed that Abraham’s family were left gutted that the former Blue didn’t sign for Arsenal when he had the chance.

“I had options in the Premier League, one from a team that my family support and they were gutted that I didn’t go,” Abraham said, referring to Arsenal, who he admitted he and his family supported.

It wasn’t only the striker’s family who were saddened by the transfer decision, but the Arsenal manager too, as Mikel Arteta was understood to be upset about missing out on Abraham.

Five years down the line, and Emery now has what Arteta so desperately wanted, with Abraham’s impact at Villa something that might concern the Gunners ever so slightly.

Arsenal should be wary of Aston Villa signing Abraham

For the most part, since leaving Chelsea, Abraham hasn’t been prolific.

That being said, when it comes to the striker in the claret and blue of Villa, the only way to describe him is prolific.

Abraham was on loan at Villa in the 2018/19 season, where he carried the Villans back to the Premier League by scoring 26 goals, one of which was in the play-offs.

Arsenal must be wary of what Abraham has produced in a Villa shirt before, as if he racks up similar numbers again, then Emery’s side will remain right on the Gunners’ trail in the title race.
