Leandro Trossard becomes ‘stubborn’ when he doesn’t start for Arsenal

Arsenal signed Leandro Trossard for £20 million in January 2023.

The Belgian knew very well that he was only coming in as a backup then, and he was more than happy with his role at the time.

However, Trossard has proven over the last 18 months that he is good enough to start as well, and he has produced a number of excellent performances.

That’s why the former Brighton man is keen to start more games now, especially against the big sides, but Arteta has often gone with Gabriel Martinelli in his position on the left wing.

GiveMeSport claim that Trossard is not a happy man when that decision is made, and the Belgium international’s muted celebration following his goal against Aston Villa showed that.

The report reveals that Trossard is thought to have a ‘stubborn streak in him’ when he doesn’t start many games. That must be hard to manage behind the scenes for Arteta.

However, in what is good news for the versatile attacker, it has been revealed that Trossard is more likely to start against Tottenham than Raheem Sterling.

It will be interesting to see how he will fare in the North London Derby if he gets the nod.

Trossard could play in a new position against Tottenham

Trossard has mostly played as a left-winger for Arsenal, while he has also made appearances on the opposite side and in a false nine role.

However, Arteta may need him in a new position in the North London Derby.

Cesc Fabregas believes Trossard should play in Martin Odegaard’s number 10 role against Tottenham and we completely agree with him.

The Arsenal skipper is expected to miss the game due to an ankle injury, and with Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira no longer at the club, we think Trossard is the man.

It will be interesting to see what will happen against Tottenham, but Trossard and Kai Havertz starting together and constantly interchanging their positions will surely cause Spurs all sorts of problems.
