Arsenal fluttered millions in transfer markets to build their 2023/24 first-team squad, so here is how much the Gunners paid in fees to sign the players at Emirates Stadium.
The north London natives invested heavily to assemble the squad at manager Mikel Arteta’s disposal capable of possibly adding silverware to Arsenal’s trophy cabinet. Players moving to Emirates Stadium in recent seasons also took Arsenal’s 23/24 wage bill to an incredible level.
Arteta welcomed an array of world-class and elite stars to north London whilst they built an Arsenal squad befitting of the Spaniard’s vision. But signing those players also saw the team spend some lofty fees in the transfer market, along with promoting from Arsenal’s academy.
So, with that in mind, Arsenal Insider has taken a look into how much Arsenal spent to sign every first-team player in the senior squad at Emirates Stadium during the 2023/24 season.
Aaron Ramsdale – £24m
Arsenal signed Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United for an initial transfer fee of £24m, plus £6m in add-ons, in August 2021.
David Raya – £3m
Arsenal signed David Raya in an initial loan transfer from Brentford for £3m in August 2023. But the Gunners’ deal with the Bees also included an option to buy the goalkeeper for £27m, which the club used in July 2024. Raya joined Arsenal permanently on a four-year contract.

Karl Hein – Undisclosed
Arsenal signed Karl Hein from FC Nomme United for an undisclosed fee as an academy gem in July 2018. He joined at 17 years old before switching into the senior fold in October 2020.
Arthur Okonkwo – £0
Arsenal did not pay a transfer for fee Arthur Okonkwo after signing the goalkeeper for their academy at the age of eight.
James Hillson – £0
James Hillson joined Arsenal for free on a professional contract in July 2019 after his deal at Reading expired.
William Saliba – £27m
Unai Emery oversaw a £27m transfer from Saint-Etienne for centre-half William Saliba whilst the manager of Arsenal in July 2019.
Kieran Tierney – £25m
Celtic obliged Arsenal to pay a Scottish record transfer fee of £25m to sign Kieran Tierney in August 2019.
Ben White – £50m
Arsenal paid Brighton & Hove Albion £50m to secure the transfer of Ben White in July 2021.

Gabriel Magalhaes – £27m
Arsenal completed the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes from LOSC Lille in September 2020 in a £27m transfer.
Jurrien Timber – £34m
Arsenal paid AFC Ajax an initial £34m, rising by £4.5m in potential add-ons, to sign versatile defender Jurrien Timber in July 2023.

Jakub Kiwior – £17.5m
Poland defender Jakub Kiwior joined Arsenal from Serie A side Spezia Calcio in January 2023 for an initial transfer fee of £17.5m, plus a further £3.5m in add-ons.
Cedric Soares – £0
Arsenal signed Cedric Soares to a permanent contract in June 2020, following an initial loan move since that January, upon the expiration of the defender’s contract with Southampton.
Takehiro Tomiyasu – £15.5m
Arsenal signed Takehiro Tomiyasu in a last-gasp transfer from Bologna FC in August 2021 for a fee of £15.5m.
Nuno Tavares – £7m
Arsenal signed Nuno Tavares from SL Benfica in July 2021 for an initial fee of £7m, rising up to £8.5m after potential add-ons.
Oleksandr Zinchenko
Mikel Arteta raided Manchester City in July 2022 to see Arsenal sign Oleksandr Zinchenko in a £32m transfer.
Thomas Partey – £45m
Arsenal swooped late in market to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid in October 2020 by paying his £45m release clause.
Martin Odegaard – £30m
Real Madrid accepted an initial fee of £30m, rising £4m after add-ons, for Martin Odegaard to join Arsenal in August 2021 after his initial loan spell in north London since that January.

Emile Smith Rowe – £0
Arsenal did not pay a transfer fee to sign Emile Smith Rowe. Instead, the midfielder rose up their ranks quickly after joining the Gunners’ renowned Hale End set-up at the age of nine.

Jorginho – £10m
Chelsea accepted an initial £10m, rising to £12m after add-ons, to sell Jorginho to Arsenal in January 2023.
Fabio Vieira – £30m
Arsenal paid FC Porto an initial £30m, plus a further £4m in potential add-ons, to secure the transfer of Fabio Vieira in June 2022.
Albert Sambi Lokonga – £15m
Arsenal signed Albert Sambi Lokonga from RSC Anderlecht for an initial transfer fee of £15m, rising to £17m after add-ons, in July 2021.
Mohamed Elneny – £7.5m
Arsene Wenger signed Mohamed Elneny whilst still the manager of Arsenal back in January 2016 in a £7.5m transfer from FC Basel.
Kai Havertz – £62.5m
Arsenal raided their London rivals, Chelsea, to sign Kai Havertz for an initial £62.5m in June 2023. The fee for the German’s move to Emirates Stadium can rise to £67.5m after add-ons.

Declan Rice – £100m
Arsenal paid West Ham United a club-record £100m, rising £5m with add-ons, to sign Declan Rice in July 2023.

Ethan Nwaneri – £0
Hale End sensation Ethan Nwaneri joined the Arsenal academy set-up at the age of nine.
Bukayo Saka – £0
Arsenal did not pay a transfer fee to sign Bukayo Saka. Instead, the England forward joined the Gunners’ youth ranks at the age of eight.

Gabriel Jesus – £45m
Arsenal paid Manchester City £45m to sign Gabriel Jesus in July 2022. Mikel Arteta raided the Citizens as the Gunners replaced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Gabriel Martinelli – £6m
Arsenal have benefitted from betting on potential after signing Gabriel Martinelli for £6m in July 2019 from Ituano FC.

Eddie Nketiah – £0
Arsenal did not pay a transfer fee to sign Eddie Nketiah after landing the striker in his youth. Nketiah joined the north London natives’ academy upon being released by Chelsea aged 14.

Leandro Trossard – £20m
Leandro Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 for £20m plus a further £7m in add-ons.
Reiss Nelson – £0
Hale Ender Reiss Nelson joined Arsenal aged eight in 2007 before breaking through as a first-team player a decade later.
Marquinhos – £3m
Arsenal bet on potential in June 2022 by signing the young Brazilian winger, Marquinhos, for £3m from Sao Paulo.
Charles Sagoe Jr – £0
Academy product Charles Sagoe Jr joined Arsenal in July 2015 after starting his youth career with London rivals, Fulham.
