Arsenal continued their fine form from Europe with a 4-0 victory over Ipswich Town.

Mikel Arteta’s side have now all but confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League with the result and put on a show against the Tractor Boys.

Martin Odegaard claimed an assist for Leandro Trossard’s first goal amid criticism from some fans for his recent performances but it was Mikel Merino that stole the show with supporters.

Merino was superb in a deeper midfield role and provided an assist himself with a deft flick for Gabriel Martinelli to fire home and Alan Shearer believes he has spotted a tactic Arsenal will use in their upcoming clash with PSG.

Alan Shearer spots Mikel Arteta Arsenal tactic v Ipswich

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day 2, former Newcastle striker and pundit Shearer believes that the team Arteta picked against Ipswich will be the one that plays against PSG.

Thomas Partey is suspended for the first leg at the Emirates Stadium and Shearer thinks that Merino will drop into midfield and Trossard will lead the line.

Shearer stated: “What we saw with the team today might be the team that he goes with in the Champions League because Partey is suspended so they might have Merino back into the midfield and Trossard up the middle.”

The Match of the Day pundit then highlighted Bukayo Saka as the key player for Arsenal should they want to progress past their formidable French opponents.

Shearer explained: “There’s no doubt about it having Saka back on that right hand side and the form that he is in, having not played so much football but coming straight back into it and doing as well as he has been doing is just incredible.”

Arsenal pass 100 goals for third consecutive season

Despite many people believing that Arsenal need a striker in order to compete for major honours, the Gunners surpassed 100 goals for the season in the 4-0 win over Ipswich.

It is the third consecutive season that they have achieved the feat under Arteta and once again the team have shared the goals out amongst the squad.

Andrea Berta is a fan of Viktor Gyokeres whilst Arteta’s dream target would be Alexander Isak however, the Gunners have shown they are capable of scoring goals with their current squad.

A few more from across the squad would be very handy in their pursuit of European glory whilst their ability to shut teams out at the other end will also give them a real chance at the crown.
