There were three different goal scorers in Arsenal’s win over Ipswich Town, but a different player stood out.

A Leandro Trossard brace and goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri secured three points for Arsenal at Portman Road.

Arsenal beat Ipswich 4-0 to earn three points in the Premier League, forcing Liverpool to put their title celebrations on hold for another week.

Mikel Arteta will be overjoyed with his team’s performance in Suffolk, as one player stood out above the rest, despite not making the scoresheet.

Martin Odegaard shines against Ipswich Town

Though Nwaneri earned high praise for coming off the bench to net his fourth Premier League goal of the season, it was Martin Odegaard who deserves the headlines.

The Norwegian was at the heart of everything positive for Arsenal against Ipswich, as his in-game numbers tell.

1 assist
115 touches

After Odegaard was criticised against Real Madrid, the Arsenal captain redeemed himself at Portman Road, despite losing possession as many as 17 times.

Odegaard recorded five key passes and completed 100% of his long balls, pulling off nine out of the nine he attempted.

The skipper completed ten times that amount of total passes, registering 90 successful passes and making 115 touches on the ball.

It was a dominating performance from the Norway international, who enjoyed the space available to him against the relegation candidates.

Arsenal haven’t seen enough from Odegaard

What will perhaps delight Odegaard most is that he added to his Premier League goal contribution tally this season.

For only the fifth time this campaign, the midfielder recorded a Premier League assist, taking his goal contribution tally to seven, which is incredibly underwhelming.

It’s been a poor season for Odegaard, who was rocked by an ankle injury early into the campaign and, admittedly, hasn’t looked the same since.

Though the 26-year-old was back to his best against Ipswich, it only emphasises just how much Arteta is missing from his key creator at present.

With huge Champions League games coming up, there’s hope that Odegaard’s display against Ipswich can hand him the tools to bolster his form when his team need him most.
