Alan Shearer says Bukayo Saka is the one current Premier League player he’d love to share a pitch with.

Shearer was lucky enough to play with some incredible players during his career, from Paul Gascoigne to David Ginola.

Speaking to Sportd, Alan Shearer was asked which current Premier League player he’d most like to play with, and, interestingly, he picked Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

Shearer was famed for his ability to get into the box and score goals, and he reckons he would have a lot of fun getting on the end of Saka’s crosses and burying those chances.

Alan Shearer would love to play with Bukayo Saka

Shearer was asked to name the current Premier League player he’d love to play with.

There are tons of fantastic creators in the Premier League right now, from Bruno Fernandes to Cole Palmer, but Shearer claims Saka is the one he’d love to play with.

“If you could play with any Premier League player current, who would you play with and why?” Shearer was asked.

“Maybe Saka on the right side, whipping those balls in, I would be happy with that, absolutely,” Shearer said.

Alan Shearer’s Bukayo Saka criticism

Shearer is a fan of Saka, clearly, but even he has had some criticism for the England star in recent times.

Indeed, Shearer recently called for Saka to start scoring more goals.

“I mean, because [Viktor] Gyokeres (hasn’t scored in) five, I mean, Saka hasn’t scored for what, 12 or 13 games, as some of the others haven’t either. That has to improve. There’s no doubt about it. Those guys have to start scoring in between now and the end of the season. They’re two good players.

“Something has to change with Saka. Saka’s an amazing player, as we know that. But in terms of assists or goals, they haven’t worked for a while. That has to change; he’s too good for that.”

Saka did score in his last league outing against Brighton, but that was a heavily deflected shot, and if Saka doesn’t buck up his ideas soon, he may well be dropped for the in-form Noni Madueke.
