Alejandro Garnacho has been previewing Chelsea’s upcoming Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Arsenal.

The two London rivals will duel over two legs for a spot at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.

There’s additional motivation for Arsenal, as Mikel Arteta has a terrible record in semi-finals that are played over two legs.

As well as wanting a spot in the first cup final of the season, Arsenal will want to remind their rivals of their quality, as in the last meeting at Stamford Bridge, the Gunners left a lot to be desired.

Tell us how Mikel Arteta breaks his semi-final curse, what is the issue?

Alejandro Garnacho says Chelsea can beat any team ahead of Arsenal Carabao Cup clash

After Moises Caicedo was sent off against Arsenal, Chelsea were reduced to 10 men in only the 38th minute of the game.

The Gunners then shocked everyone and went behind, only managing to claw back one goal to see the match end in a draw.

Chelsea’s resilience gave the Blues motivation, so much so that Alejandro Garnacho referenced the performance ahead of Wednesday night’s clash.

“We know it’s going to be hard, but we already showed to the world that we can beat any team,” Garnacho told Chelsea’s official website

If you could sign any Chelsea player, who would it be and who would they replace at Arsenal?

After stating his belief that Chelsea can ‘beat any team’, Garnacho gave some examples, naming the 1-1 draw against Arsenal as one and their Champions League win over Barcelona as another.

“For example, Barcelona, or when we played Arsenal at home with ten players, we showed that we are a fantastic team, so we can do it.”

It was a rather humorous example from Garnacho, who used a 1-1 draw against Arteta’s Premier League leaders as proof that Chelsea have shown they can beat anyone.

Right now, Arsenal are the team to beat in Europe, sitting top of the Premier League and Champions League, and Chelsea understand the challenge that awaits them.

Garnacho has a terrible record against Arsenal

Garnacho might’ve unintentionally made it clear how highly he rates Arsenal, which is to be expected given his record against the Gunners.

In his career at Manchester United and Chelsea, the Argentine has faced the Gunners seven times, possessing a win rate of just 14%.

In those seven games, Garnacho has failed to score, so he will be eager to make amends when Arteta’s side visit Stamford Bridge.

It’s not just Garnacho who will want to prove himself against Arsenal, but Chelsea as a whole, who haven’t beaten Arsenal since August 2021.
