Anthony Gordon has admitted that he has a great admiration for Arsenal’s Declan Rice following their time together at England.
The Barcelona winger believes that the 27-year-old’s CV speaks for itself, and behind the scenes for England, he has shown great leadership.
“I think that what he just said sums up his leadership style. He is humble. You would never think he is the player he is or what he’s achieved so far in his career. I don’t even know how many caps he’s got. He’s only 27,” Gordon told Lions’ Den.
🏆 Which Arsenal player is most deserving of this Premier League trophy?
“Yeah, like he’s got an unbelievable resume already, and he’s not even in his prime yet, but that sums up his leadership style. He’s so humble even on the pitch. Like he’s just incredible to everyone on and off the pitch.”
Rice is expected to be one of the top players at this summer’s World Cup, and he is already proving why he is also so key behind the scenes.
The world will now get to see how important Rice really is as he looks to guide England deep in the World Cup this summer.
Declan Rice should become Arsenal captain
Many have suggested that Rice should captain Arsenal ahead of Martin Odegaard, with the former Hammers star being a real vocal leader on and off the pitch.
Gordon’s latest message about Rice proves why he is such a great leader and how well respected he is by many of his teammates.
Having been so important in helping Arsenal win the Premier League, Mikel Arteta really should consider making him the captain.
Odegaard could leave Arsenal this summer, and instead of Bukayo Saka taking over, it has to be Rice.
