Several Arsenal players have impressed for their national teams during the international break.

Jurrien Timber outshone Virgil van Dijk while playing for the Netherlands, while Gabriel Martinelli scored for Brazil against Japan.

Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka have also got on the score sheet in England’s games.

The biggest star during this international break, however, was Mikel Merino for Spain in their win over Bulgaria on Tuesday night.

Arsenal star Mikel Merino gets 10/10 rating after a stunning display for Spain

Merino has produced some excellent performances for Arsenal and Spain since the turn of this year.

The Spaniard is a central midfielder by trade, but he is as clinical as they come inside the box, and that was evident against Bulgaria on Tuesday night.

Merino scored twice to help La Roja win 4-0, and his overall performance has earned him a ton of plaudits.

Arsenal and Spain fans have been raving about Merino, while even his country’s media outlets have showered him with praise.

The best review of his performance, however, comes from Sofascore, who have given him a 10/10 rating for his display on Tuesday night.

The stats platform called it a ‘perfect performance’ and also revealed that only two players have managed to score more goals than Merino in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Mikel Merino was outstanding but he could be benched for Fulham vs Arsenal

Arsenal take on Fulham in their first Premier League game after the international break.

The Gunners are on top of the table right now, and with an easier run of fixtures coming up, Mikel Arteta will want his side to start well.

Merino is in incredible form right now, and with Martin Odegaard injured, there is a spot in midfield that’s up for grabs.

However, with Eze also scoring on international duty, we think the England international will get the nod to start in the number 10 role on Saturday.
