Arsenal and Tottenham are set to write another chapter in the long history of the North London Derby when the two teams face off this summer.

The rivalry between the two teams has spanned years, with no love lost in recent years, despite the Gunners seemingly having the edge.

Mikel Arteta will be looking to notch up another win over Tottenham in the near future, while it’s unclear if Ange Postecoglou will still be in post for such an encounter, with his role currently under threat.

Arsenal will certainly be looking to take the bragging rights when the North London Derby rolls around, with the next one coming with a few changes for fans and players alike.

Arsenal and Tottenham set for 2025 pre-season meeting, the first North London Derby abroad

While the 2024/25 season is drawing to a close, plans are already being put in place for the preparation for 2025/26.

Another huge Premier League campaign is ahead, along with another challenge in the Champions League for Arsenal.

The 2025 pre-season preparation is set to include a North London Derby clash with Tottenham, which will create history.

It’ll be the first time that the rivalry will be played overseas, creating another chapter in the history of the two clubs.

Just how ferociously the tie will be taken is unclear, given that it will be in preparation for the season, rather than the usual high-stakes encounters in the league and cup competitions.

However, it’ll be a chance for fans abroad to get a glimpse of the clash in its full spirit in Hong Kong in July.

When is Arsenal vs Tottenham in pre-season 2025?

It has been confirmed that Arsenal will play Tottenham in a North London Derby clash on July 31, 2025.

The pre-season friendly will take place in Hong Kong, with it being played at the Kai Tak Stadium.

Arsenal fans react to North London Derby in pre-season

There has been some mixed reaction to the news of a North London Derby being played during the pre-season fixture schedule.

To some fans, it’s a chance to finally see their team play a high-profile fixture in front of them, cheering on the side they cherish.

While for others, it’s viewed as a way to devalue the fixture entirely, rather than bolster it like it could be during the season.

One excited fan took to social media to say: “Been waiting for the return [to Hong Kong] since 2012.”

While another added: “Beating spurs as usual.”

Other supporters were far from impressed, stating: “We should not have anything to do with those London white failures in the preseason.”

Another said: “Selling the North London derby as a friendly devalues the fixture, that is unarguable. I hope the money goes directly into the transfer budget.”

Other dissenting voices said: “Should never play this game as a friendly. Ridiculous,” and “The games gone.”

It’s certainly a mixed reaction to a phenomenon that is only going to grow in football it seems, with clubs looking to play abroad more often.
