Arsenal are now saying exactly the same thing about Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke behind-the-scenes

Arsenal have had a busy summer transfer window so far.

Indeed, the Gunners have made no fewer than four signings already as Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke have already arrived.

There’s more where that came from too as Viktor Gyokeres is set to sign for Arsenal and Cristhian Mosquera is set to arrive too.

Arsenal are very happy with their business so far, and according to James McNicholas, speaking on the Arsecast, the Gunners have categorised both Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke as ‘tier one’ signings behind-the-scenes this summer.

Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke seen as ‘tier one’ signings

McNicholas shared what Arsenal are saying internally about their new signings.

Madueke and Zubimendi are apparently seen internally as ‘tier one’ signings, which means that they’re viewed as players who have the potential to start matches.

“I think internally, they’ve described Martin Zubimendi as a tier one signing, I think Noni Madueke as well, which from the state of my replies on social media, I don’t think people were thrilled with. But if you spend 50 million pounds on an England international, you’re probably going to classify them as tier one. And to be fair, tier one, so from Mikel’s explanation, certainly until now, the squad has been categorised into at least three tiers,” McNicholas said.

“Tier one just means players with the potential to be starters. Doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the first name on the team sheet, but you know, so I would imagine going into next season, for example, Saka, Martinelli, Madueke, probably Trossard as well, may all sit in that tier one.”

Noni Madueke’s ‘tier one’ status suggests he could change position

Noni Madueke has been earmarked as a ‘tier one’ signing, and that may suggest that Mikel Arteta is set to make a change with the winger.

Indeed, Bukayo Saka has been undroppable down the right wing in recent seasons, so any new signing brought in to play that role are unlikely to be seen as ‘tier one’.

However, down the left wing, a gap may be set to open up, and that may be where Madueke plays most of his football next season.

At £52m, Madueke wasn’t a cheap signing for Arsenal, so he’s not going to just rot on the bench, but with Saka down the right wing, Madueke may be set to play on the opposite flank once he gets going under Mikel Arteta.
