A round-up of the latest Arsenal news with updates on Jurrien Timber, contract talks and Kai Havertz.
Jurrien Timber injury update
Arsenal may have dropped a huge hint over an injury return for defender Jurrien Timber this season. The Dutch international has been missing since his Premier League debut, where he picked up an anterior cruciate ligament blow.
The knee injury usually keeps players out for a while, but there seems to be some hope that the former Ajax man will be back this season. That’s because, as per UEFA’s official website, the defender has been included in the Champions League squad for the next phase of the competition.
The Gunners face FC Porto in the knockout rounds in late February and mid-March, with hopes of reaching the final.

Arsenal contract talks
Arsenal remain locked in talks with promising wonderkid Amario Cozier-Duberry over a new contract, claims Fabrizio Romano. The 18-year-old has impressed through the academy ranks, but with just a few months remaining on his deal, there’s uncertainty surrounding his future.
Should Arsenal fail to keep the winger, then Romano claims that Borussia Dortmund, Anderlecht, Ajax, Wolves and Newcastle are all eyeing a potential move.

Kai Havertz verdict
Former Arsenal and England star Karen Carney has explained why Kai Havertz is a perfect fit for the Gunners since making his move from Chelsea. The German international received plenty of criticism for the switch, but has impressed in recent weeks.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Carney said: “I think Mikel Arteta is a defensive coach. I think Kai Havertz gets a lot of criticism as an attacking player for his output, but he does an incredible role defensively for the team, cutting off that side of the pitch, I think he was brilliant as well out of possession.”
