Arsenal supporters are concerned about the official who will be in charge of their upcoming clash with Manchester City.

Next time out in the Premier League, Arsenal will take on Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be aiming to go toe-to-toe with the reigning champions in the Premier League title race again this season.

Having finished as runners up in each of the last two campaigns, Gary Neville has tipped Arsenal to take the crown this time around. However, many will still have Pep Guardiola’s men down as the favourites.

Manchester City have now received another potential boost as referee Michael Oliver will oversee their encounter with Arsenal this weekend.

Arsenal fans react to Michael Oliver appointment

Oliver took charge of a match between these two sides last season and that game was marked by controversy.

On that occasion, Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic was extremely fortunate not to be sent off following two reckless challenges.

Many Arsenal supporters on X are now concerned that Oliver could make life easier for the Cityzens.

One said: “Michael Oliver will officiate our game against City. It is going to be tough guys.”

Another stated: “Michael Oliver for City x Arsenal game again? PL is a JOKE.”

One claimed: “Kovacic will get away with another one then.”

Another added: “Kovacic about to have a field day with ankle breaker tackles all over the pitch and Michael Oliver turning blind eye to all of it again.”

Arsenal must watch their behaviour against Manchester City

Arsenal have been on the end of some contentious refereeing decisions recently.

Former Premier League official Dermot Gallagher recently took aim at Arsenal due to their behaviour when it comes to delaying set-pieces.

Declan Rice was recently sent off after preventing Brighton from taking a quick free kick.

Arteta must curb this behaviour amongst his players ahead of Sunday. The Gunners cannot afford to take such unnecessary risks against Manchester City under the watchful eye of Oliver.
