Mikel Merino is close to making his debut for Arsenal.

Arsenal signed Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad in the recent summer transfer window.

However, in his first training session with the Gunners, Merino sustained an injury which has kept him on the sidelines ever since.

Merino is now back in training though, and will be pushing for involvement against PSG in this evening’s Champions League clash.

The Spanish midfielder will be keen to hit the ground running upon his return to action and will be eager to make up for lost time. The 28-year-old is not alone in being eager to see him finally make his Arsenal debut.

Merino could be Arsenal’s secret weapon

Arsenal have been extremely successful with their approach to attacking set-pieces in recent times.

Arsenal’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover has been hugely praised, and deservedly so. The Frenchman will be eager to work with Merino.

Merino offers an impressive aerial threat, and will provide another target for the Gunners to aim for in set-piece situations. The former Real Sociedad man will be expected to connect with crosses and contribute goals this season.
