Arsenal fans all in agreement as Spurs close in on Dominic Solanke, they find one thing hilarious

Arsenal were linked with a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke this summer, but he is now heading to their biggest rivals instead.

Solanke scored 19 Premier League goals last season as he exploded under Andoni Iraola, and Tottenham Hotspur are set to pay around £65m to sign him.

Arsenal were linked with Solanke, but a deal always felt unlikely, particularly at that price, and Edu Gaspar should arguably have even held out for a bigger fee over Eddie Nketiah, who is expected to join Marseille.

Whilst Solanke could have been a good addition to the Arsenal squad, he does not add the speed or wing option which is more of a priority than a centre-forward.

Solanke recently admitted that he was an Arsenal fan in his younger days, and even attended the Emirates Cup as a fan.

“Would have probably been Arsenal. Yeah, my dad was an Arsenal fan, so I used to follow them. I went to a few Emirates Cups, back in the day,” Solanke stated of Arsenal.

With this in mind, Arsenal fans have found his impending move to Spurs hilarious, and pointed out that he is the latest in a long line of Gunners supporters who ended up joining their local rivals.

Fans point out Dominic Solanke Arsenal connection ahead of Tottenham move

Arsenal fans have taken to X to point out the hilarity in yet another Arsenal supporter joining Spurs.

“Neto’s favourite team as a child was Arsenal. Solanke’s favourite team as a child was Arsenal. Enjoy your new signings Chelsea & Spurs. Arsenal are massive,” one fan posted in regard to Solanke and Pedro Neto’s impending moves to cross-town rivals.

“I feel so sorry for Tottenham fans. Eze, Neto, Solanke etc. everyone they sign and are linked to loves Arsenal,” another fan posted.

“Most players who are in the age ranges of 25+ support us. We were the best club in England when they were growing up,” a fan pointed out.

“Spurs replacing Arsenal fan – Harry Kane with Arsenal fan – Dominic Solanke Can’t make it up,” a fan claimed, pointing out that former Spurs striker Harry Kane was also an Arsenal fan.

“Another Gooner signing for Spurs. At the end of the season Solanke, Kulusevski and Darren Bent can celebrate Arsenals league title,” a fan claimed.

Arsenal fans who played for Tottenham Hotspur

Aside from Kane and Solanke, several admitted Arsenal fans have played for Tottenham Hotspur.

Matt Doherty joined Spurs in 2020, and his signing video saw him delete old tweets expressing his support for Arsenal.

Serge Aurier was also pictured in an Arsenal shirt before he joined Spurs in 2017, and Dejan Kulusevski was pictured outside the Emirates Stadium years before he moved to North London.

Arsenal fans will now hope that Solanke’s previous admiration for the club means that he does not score in upcoming North London derbies, but they will be wary that this did not stop Kane in the past.
