Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has delivered a scathing verdict on Gabriel Martinelli.

The Brazilian was one of the Gunners’ best players in the 2022/23 season. He scored 15 goals in the Premier League that campaign and helped Mikel Arteta’s side challenge for the title.

Martinelli’s form since hasn’t been great. He hasn’t been his usual self on the left flank and is now even struggling to dribble past players who are significantly slower than him.

Henry had a go at Martinelli’s decision-making on Monday Night Football. He wasn’t happy with the fact that the former Ituano man was refusing to use his biggest strength – pace.

Arsenal fans on social media all agreed with Henry, and they think there’s a simple solution to solve Martinelli’s struggles right now.

Arsenal fans make Thierry Henry demand after his comments on Gabriel Martinelli

Henry knows how to be devastating on the left side of the pitch better than anyone else. He used to torment defenders back in his prime.

Martinelli needs to add that ability to his game, and Arsenal fans think there’s a great way for him to do that. Gooners are all begging the club to appoint Henry as an attacking coach.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “Arsenal should pay for Henry to join the coaching staff just to be a personal coach for Martinelli.”

Another wrote: “I need Henry to coach Martinelli for two weeks.”

“I’ve seen enough, Arsenal get Henry signed as an attacking coach,” said another.

Another Gooner claimed: “Arteta needs Henry to come in and coach the attacks!”

“This is great but can you get down to Sobha and coach Martinelli 1v1 please,” tweeted another fan.

What Thierry Henry has said about returning to management

Henry is currently out of a job after leaving the French Olympics side in the summer.

The Frenchman does punditry work for CBS Sports and other networks and he’s very good at that. But, it’s clear that coaching is his passion.

The 47-year-old was asked on Monday Night football whether he would be open to a return to management anytime soon.

Henry claimed that he is open to “anything and everything” as long as it “makes sense” for him and his family.

Whether that means he would be open to being one of Arteta’s assistants, however, is anyone’s guess.
