Jurrien Timber was spotted reporting for Arsenal training ahead of Burnley, but Arsenal fans want him saved for the Champions League final.
Arsenal deleted a social media post featuring Timber arriving at London Colney ahead of their Premier League game against Burnley.
How should Mikel Arteta manage Jurrien Timber’s return for Arsenal?
How many minutes should the defender play vs Burnley, Crystal Palace and PSG…
Mikel Arteta likes to keep team news under wraps, and the image of the defender returning to training was quickly removed.
But plenty of Arsenal fans spotted the Dutch defender and have now been discussing his return to action over the next fortnight.
Arsenal fans want Jurrien Timber ready for the Champions League final
Arsenal fans want Jurrien Timber ready for the Champions League final as the defender appears to be back training.
The Gunners supporters are keen for the defender to get some minutes in his legs ahead of the final on May 30 in Budapest.
Arsenal will need Timber ready to deal with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, especially as Ben White has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Arsenal posted this immediately after Manchester City won the FA Cup. Coincidence or mind games?
Timber was pushing to return for Arsenal, and the defender now looks set to play a part in one of the team’s final three matches.
After being spotted ahead of Arsenal training, fans have been reacting to how the defender’s return should be managed.
- “If Timber can get 90 minutes in his legs over the next few weeks, this is huge for the final.”
- “Timber locked up Kvaratskhelia the last time they faced each other. In both legs, too. Getting him fully fit for the final is crucial.”
- Please let’s not rush him; he shouldn’t play against Burnley. Maybe get 30 minutes on the final day. We need him ready for Kvaratskhelia.”
- “I hope he doesn’t push too hard for the Burnley match, but honestly, if you can play in the Palace game, that’d be huge.”
- “Start Mosquera vs Burnley, play Timber 15 mins. Then give Timber 45 mins vs Palace, then 75 mins in the Champions League final.”
Arteta will need to carefully manage the 24-year-old ahead of the final three games as he could be key to helping them beat PSG.
Timber was excellent against PSG last season and could be the man to stop Kvaratskhelia at the end of the month.
