Arsenal have now been handed a huge boost, as journalist David Ornstein has dropped a major update over the future of Mikel Arteta.

Arteta had entered the final 12 months of his contract as Arsenal manager, and questions were raised in recent months over his future as Barcelona expressed an interest in him.

However, the Spaniard had no intention of departing Arsenal, and Arteta expressed his fury at reports coming out of Spain that he had agreed to join Barcelona.

It has now been revealed that Arteta has agreed a new three-year contract at Arsenal, signing fresh terms which will extend his deal to 2027, on a higher contract than any player in his squad.

Ornstein has described the breakthrough as a “huge boost” for Arsenal ahead of a tough week which will see them face Tottenham Hotspur, Atalanta and Manchester City in a trio of tricky away games, and fans are now delighted as their popular manager has committed his future to the club.

Arsenal fans delighted as Mikel Arteta agrees new contract

Fans have taken to X to express their joy that any uncertainty over Arteta’s contract is now over, and that the former midfielder will be in charge for years to come.

“Absolutely delighted with this. I’d rather let every single player go before letting this man leave the club,” one fan claimed.

“Best possible news. I knew he was the one when he laid out his blueprint in his first ever interview as Arsenal manager. He spoke with such confidence and authority. He has delivered on everything he said here,” a fan pointed out.

“Arteta stays at Arsenal for 3 more years. That’s the kind of positive news we needed right now!” Another fan added.

Fans do want Arteta’s Arsenal to kick on and win major silverware, but they are also confident that he is the perfect manager to bring trophies to the Emirates Stadium.

“Great news. Let’s finish what you’ve started boss, it would be a travesty for this team to end up with nothing to show for it,” a fan posted.

“Fantastic news, he has 3 more years to try and win big trophies, I don’t mean Carabao and FA Cups btw,” a fan demanded.

“Three More Years of Mikel Arteta ball, Trophies surely incoming too,” another fan responded.

Mikel Arteta to take next step with Arsenal after new contract

Arteta’s new contract is a welcome boost for Arsenal, and ends any speculation over his future after this season.

The former captain injected new life into the club, and his side are now title-challengers competing at the highest level.

The next step for Arteta will be to eventually get over the line when it comes to major silverware, and after two near-misses, he will hope that he can bring a long-awaited Premier League title back to North London, 20 years after Arsenal were last crowned champions.
