Arsenal star William Saliba is one of the best defenders in the world.
The Frenchman has been on the Gunners’ books since 2019, but it was only on the opening day of the 2022/23 season that he made his competitive debut.
Saliba has been absolutely incredible since and has played a huge part in helping the North Londoners challenge for the Premier League title.
The 23-year-old’s brilliant performances have made him a wanted man, with reports claiming that Real Madrid have made Saliba their number-one target.
That is really worrying for Arsenal fans, which is why they have all sent a hilarious message to the Spanish giants after Saliba’s terrible performance for France against Belgium on Monday night.
Arsenal fans send message to Real Madrid about William Saliba
Saliba had an evening to forget against Belgium in Brussels.
The Frenchman made several mistakes, conceded a penalty and looked nothing like his usual self. It was arguably his worst performance since he made his France debut.
Arsenal fans have taken this opportunity to send a message to Real Madrid, hilariously telling them that he is not good and that the Galacticos should target someone else instead.
One Arsenal fan tweeted: “Real Madrid are you sure you want to buy this Saliba? You might need to have a rethink.”
Another said: “What is the overrated Saliba doing here? This is why Real Madrid needs real world-class defenders that can actually defend. Players like Reece James, Trent, Cuti Romero, Rob Holding, Ibou Konate.”
“Real Madrid, I hope you’re watching. Konate is 10x better than Saliba,” tweeted another.
Another Gooner said: “Hope Real Madrid are watching. William Saliba isn’t all he’s hyped up to be, especially when he doesn’t have Gabriel beside him. Arsenal fans have been massively overrating him; it’s Romero you really want.”
“I’ve always told everyone that Saliba is still very much raw, he is not what Real Madrid need. He is better at where is he. Real Madrid should just focus on Romero, who is just three matches away from becoming another Sergio Ramos. Leave Saliba for Arsenal.”
Edu needs to act fast to keep Saliba
Saliba was really poor on Monday night, but we’re sure that will not have any impact on Real Madrid’s interest in him. He will still be high on their list.
That is worrying for Arsenal, especially as the Frenchman will enter the final two years of his contract next summer.
Edu Gaspar will be aware of that, and we think he should start talks with Saliba’s camp over a new long-term contract as soon as possible.
If Arsenal allow Saliba to enter the last two years of his deal, it could prove to be a disastrous move.
