Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has come under some criticism despite the win over Crystal Palace.

The Gunners made eight changes for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against the Eagles, but they still looked incredible in the first half.

Even though the game went to penalties in the end, Arsenal came out as worthy winners, but one of Arteta’s pre-match decisions has caused some anger.

The Arsenal manager left Ethan Nwaneri on the bench once again, even though he scored in the previous Carabao Cup fixture.

Arsenal supporters are not happy.

Arsenal fans think Ethan Nwaneri will leave after Mikel Arteta benched him vs Crystal Palace

Nwaneri has started just three games for Arsenal this season, none of which have come in the Premier League.

Many fans felt that the ‘phenomenal’ teenager was certain to start in the Carabao Cup after playing the full 90 minutes in the previous two games in the competition, but Arteta left him out.

That has led many fans to feel that Nwaneri is leaving. Some think he will be loaned out in January, while others think he could seek a permanent move away.

One Arsenal fan tweeted after seeing the team news: “Yeah, that’s Nwaneri leaving.”

Another wrote: “Nwaneri is leaving in January, and I wish him the absolute best.”

“When will Nwaneri get minutes? He’s surely leaving in January then,” said another.

Another Arsenal supporter posted: “Nwaneri is 100 per cent leaving!”

“Nwaneri is defo leaving us! How is he not starting?” wrote another.

If you could pick one club in the entire world for Ethan Nwaneri to join on loan in January, which would it be and why?

Or should Arsenal just keep him until the summer?

Ethan Nwaneri must leave Arsenal on loan

Nwaneri was never expected to play a big part this season after Arsenal signed Eberechi Eze.

The former Crystal Palace man and Martin Odegaard were always going to be ahead of the teenager in the pecking order, but many people still felt that Nwaneri would get minutes.

However, the amount of game time he has received – 446 minutes in all competitions – is nowhere near enough.

Keeping Nwaneri on the bench for the second half of the season would be really unfair. He should be sent out on loan to a club where he will play regularly.

If it were up to us, we would send Nwaneri to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of the season.
