Arsenal and Manchester City are battling it out for the Premier League title in what could be Pep Guardiola’s last season as their manager.
The Spaniard joined the Sky Blues in the summer of 2016, and he has brought immense success to the club. He is right up there with the best managers the Premier League has ever seen.
What decides the 2025/26 Premier League, Arsenal’s defence or Man City’s attack?
However, The Athletic have revealed that Manchester City are eyeing potential replacements in case Guardiola leaves the club in the summer.
There is no concrete update on the 54-year-old’s future at this moment in time, but the fact that City are looking ahead suggests this could be his final season.
After hearing that, Arsenal fans are all saying the same thing.
Arsenal fans think Mikel Arteta will dominate the Premier League for years if Pep Guardiola leaves
Arsenal have been in three consecutive title races before this season, and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are the reason why they haven’t won on two occasions.
The Sky Blues won back-to-back titles in 2022/23 and 2023/24, narrowly pipping the Gunners to the crown and leaving Mikel Arteta empty-handed.
That may or may not change this season, but Arsenal fans are convinced things will be different if Guardiola leaves his job at City.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “If Pep leaves at the end of the season, people will beg Arteta to stop dominating the league.”
Another wrote: “At this point, just give Arteta an eight-year contract extension ASAP. Pep is leaving at the end of the season, and all I see is Arteta dominating the entire league for years. Rivals will beg for mercy.”
“Once Pep leaves, Mikel Arteta will stage Sir Alex Ferguson’s level of dominance in the Premier League,” said another.
Another Gooner posted: “Pep gone and Arteta is about to dominate this league for years to come.”
“City fall-off plus Arsenal dominance incoming,” tweeted another.
A Premier League medal? A new signing? What would you give Mikel Arteta for Christmas and why?
Mikel Arteta must aim to do one thing before Pep Guardiola leaves
Arsenal fans are right: The Gunners are the best-placed team in the country to dominate the Premier League if Guardiola leaves Manchester City.
That would be great to watch if you’re an Arsenal fan, but Arteta should make sure one thing happens before his mentor moves on.
After coming second best to Guardiola twice, Arsenal should do everything they can to win the Premier League when the Spaniard is still in charge.
If they don’t, people will forever question Arteta and ridicule him – even if he wins the league in the future – for not being able to go all the way when Guardiola was his rival.
Arsenal are the favourites to win the Premier League now, and they should capitalise.
