Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa is being viewed by many as a big blow to their Premier League title hopes.

The Gunners had the opportunity to maintain their five-point gap to Manchester City in the table, but they were nowhere near their best level at Villa Park.

Goals from Matty Cash and former Arsenal target Emiliano Buendia sealed the win for Unai Emery’s side, and Chris Sutton has claimed he’s not confident that Mikel Arteta’s side will win the title now.

However, Opta has disagreed.

Opta’s supercomputer says Arsenal are still the favourites to win the Premier League

Despite the defeat to Aston Villa and Manchester City closing the gap to two points, Arsenal are expected to win the Premier League title.

The Gunners have won 10 and drawn three of their first 15 games in the English top flight, which is a very impressive record.

What makes it even better is that they have played all of the traditional top six already, and only Liverpool managed to beat them.

Furthermore, trips to Old Trafford, Anfield, St James’ Park, the Stadium of Light, Stamford Bridge and Villa Park are all done.

That is perhaps why, despite the defeat to Aston Villa, Opta’s supercomputer still fully believes that Arsenal are the favourites to go all the way and win it.

The Gunners have been given a 72.28 per cent chance of winning the title. The next best team, Manchester City, only have an 18.77 per cent chance of pipping the Gunners.

Supercomputer predicts Arsenal’s Champions League chances

Winning the Premier League will be the main aim for Arsenal this season, but the Champions League is a strong possibility too.

The Gunners have won each of their first five games in the competition so far. They have scored 14 goals in the process and have conceded just one – that came against Bayern Munich.

That is why Opta’s supercomputer believes Arsenal will win the Champions League too.

Which team do you think are Arsenal’s biggest threat to winning the Champions League this season?

Can Arsenal finally win the Champions League?

It has been claimed that the Gunners have a 22.6 per cent chance of going all the way in Europe.

Bayern Munich, who Arsenal have already beaten, are the second favourites with an 18.2 per cent chance, while defending champions PSG are right behind them with a 12.8 per cent chance.

Mikel Arteta’s men should embrace the fact that they are the favourites and do everything they can to win the Champions League this season.
