Raheem Sterling is beginning to settle into life at Arsenal.
Arsenal signed Raheem Sterling on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea on Transfer Deadline Day.
Signing Sterling represented a low risk option for the Gunners. Sporting director Edu Gaspar negotiated smartly with Chelsea, who are still paying more than half of winger’s wages and received no loan fee from the North London club.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s squad has gained some much-needed extra strength in depth in the final third. The 29-year-old brings experience, proven quality, and an impressive track record with him to the Emirates Stadium.
Following a difficult time at Stamford Bridge, Sterling has also arrived at Arsenal with a point to prove. He has one season at the club, and will be desperate to use it to show that he still belongs at the highest level.
In this regard, the 82-cap England international has made a good start, as he has already caught the eye in his first Arsenal training session.
Arsenal fans wowed by Raheem Sterling training skills
Arsenal fans on X spotted Sterling pulling off some dazzling footwork on the training ground to slalom between and pirouette away from other players, in footage of his first training session shared on YouTube by the club.
One supporter said: “Oh yeah I’m completely invested and ready to be hurt.”
Another stated: “Sterling and Saka running at defenders is going to be a pain I’m glad I’m an Arsenal supporter.”
Another claimed: “The super star is still in him and he will show it now. I have no doubt.”
One insisted: “We got a perfect cover for Saka!”
Another fan added: “He’s looking so sharp in training. In a proper system, its really hard to tame him, so quick, agile, direct with low centre of gravity.”
Mikel Arteta ready to trust Sterling
Arteta and Sterling know each other well. The pair worked together before, when the Arsenal manager was an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and the winger plied his trade for the Cityzens.
During that period, Sterling produced the best football of his career. He was a key player for Manchester City, and played a major role in four Premier League title triumphs.
Arteta believes he can get Sterling back to his best at Arsenal this season. If that conviction proves true, then the forward will be a huge weapon for the Gunners and could be set to add a fifth Premier League winner’s medal to his collection.
