Arsenal aren’t back in Premier League action on Sunday, but there was plenty to get stuck into on Saturday afternoon.
Indeed, Tottenham started their season well with a win over Burnley, while Brighton drew Fulham down at the Amex after a late equaliser.
Meanwhile, Sunderland started their campaign in the best way possible with a 3-0 win over West Ham.
Arsenal fans were playing particularly close attention to the Sunderland game due to the re-debut of Granit Xhaka in the Premier League.
Xhaka has returned to England with Sunderland, and he’s already looking right back at home in the Premier League

Arsenal fans react to Granit Xhaka’s Sunderland debut
Xhaka made his first Premier League appearance since 2023 on Saturday as Sunderland beat West Ham.
Understandably, Arsenal fans had an eye on their former captain’s performance, and it’s fair to say they were impressed.
Xhaka has actually been made Sunderland captain already as well.
One fan wrote: “Xhaka has been amazing.” After his performance.
Meanwhile, another noted that Xhaka still has it despite his advancing years.
Another fan noted just how much of a leader Xhaka looks on the pitch, saying:
“Xhaka literally coaching the entire team on the pitch. Senior player.”
Experience is vital for any newly-promoted team looking to establish themselves in the Premier League, and there aren’t many more canny operators than Xhaka.
Of course, seeing Xhaka strut his stuff again led to some Arsenal fans reflecting on their own team, as one said: “We made a huge mistake selling Xhaka.”
Granit Xhaka’s stats vs West Ham
Arsenal fans were impressed by Xhaka’s performance vs West Ham, and the stats back up the idea that he had a great debut.
Indeed, the numbers show that Xhaka ran the show in the midfield for Sunderland as they got off to a great start.

Sunderland and Arsenal will probably be competing at opposite ends of the table this season, but with Xhaka in their midfield, there may be something of an alliance forming between Gunners fans and Sunderland supporters.
A fair few Arsenal fans may have a soft spot for Sunderland off the back of this transfer.
