Arsenal beat Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby again, and young Myles Lewis-Skelly was the star of the show.
The Gunners have a fantastic academy. Hale End has produced several magnificent young players over the years, and Lewis-Skelly is up there with the very best.
The 18-year-old started at left-back against Spurs ahead of more experienced options like Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney.
Lewis-Skelly was absolutely outstanding from the first minute of the game until he was withdrawn late in the second half. He even earned a standing ovation at the Emirates.
Arsenal fans, as you would expect, are in awe of Lewis-Skelly and have had their say about the talented teenager after his performance in the North London Derby.
Arsenal fans stunned by Myles Lewis-Skelly’s performance at 18
Producing a brilliant performance in the North London Derby against Tottenham is one thing, but to do it at the young age of 18 makes it so much more impressive.
That’s what Lewis-Skelly did at the Emirates on Wednesday night, and Arsenal supporters are amazed at the fact that he dominated Tottenham at his age.
One Arsenal fan tweeted: “We aren’t deeping the fact that Myles Lewis-Skelly has dropped minimum 8/10 performances in every single start, at 18 years of age and he’s not even playing in his best position.”
Another said: “Myles Lewis-Skelly shushing the Tottenham fans in his first North London Derby! I love this guy so much, he’s too, too good to be 18.”
“Myles Lewis-Skelly, WOW. An insane combination of technique and physicality, what a special talent. Boyhood Gooner dominating Spurs like that at the age of 18, stuff of dreams,” wrote another.
Another Gooner posted: “Myles Lewis-Skelly is 18 by the way and playing in his first North London Derby. He has been INCREDIBLE!”
“Myles Lewis-Skelly is technically gifted, tactically sound, strong, combative, mature, composed on the ball and versatile. He is 18 years old. Thrown in the deep end from the outset and it seems like he belonged here all his life. We are blessed,” tweeted another.
Lewis-Skelly’s Arsenal future could be in a different position
Lewis-Skelly has been impressing everyone while playing at left-back, but that’s not even his natural position.
The 18-year-old is a central midfielder by trade. He can play as a six as well as in a box-to-box role, and that’s where we think he will flourish in the coming years.
Thomas Partey and Jorginho are both expected to leave Arsenal in the summer, and that will free up space for someone in the midfield.
We think it will be Lewis-Skelly, and there’s absolutely no doubt in our minds that he will become one of the best players in the country higher up the pitch.
Lewis-Skelly is going to be an absolute superstar, and we can’t wait to see more of him.
