At 33-years-old, former Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is starting to find his goal scoring touch once again after several years of injury disruption.

In truth, were Welbeck not often injured at Arsenal during his time at the Emirates Stadium, he might even still be at the club today.

The former Manchester United man simply couldn’t offer the level of consistency that is required at a club like Arsenal, an unfortunate tale of injury frustration.

That being said, Welbeck seems to have found a good fit at Brighton & Hove Albion whilst heading into the twilight years of his footballing career.

Welbeck has four goals in seven Premier League games this season, the same record as Kai Havertz in N5.

And after one of those goals came in a 3-2 comeback to embarrass Tottenham over the weekend, Arsenal fans had a lot to say about their former striker.

Arsenal fans fed up of making Gabriel Jesus ‘excuses’ and call for Danny Welbeck

Perhaps there was a slightly facetious tone to some of the comments, but after Arsenal fans spent a Sunday evening watching Welbeck tear apart Tottenham’s 2-0 lead, there was a common opinion on X.

Gabriel Jesus struggled against Southampton on Saturday when handed a chance by Mikel Arteta, and fans now want to see Welbeck take the Brazilian’s place at the Emirates.

One fan said: “Even Welbeck would do a decent job at Arsenal as a backup… Welbeck will do better than Gabriel Jesus.”

A harsh consensus, but considering that Arsenal paid £45m to sign Jesus, they aren’t currently getting the best value for their money.

And on the other end of the stick, Welbeck is producing some stunning displays for Brighton, with Arsenal fans delighted to see him causing Spurs some more misery.

“Danny Welbeck, he may not be at Arsenal anymore, but when it comes to playing Spurs, it’s clear where his heart is!”

And after seeing Sunday’s action, one fan simply concluded: “Welbeck is definitely an Arsenal legend now.”

Gabriel Jesus still deserves more time at Arsenal

As mentioned, there is probably a jovial tone behind these comments, but either way it does seem as if Jesus is being treated slightly harshly.

The Brazilian does now look out of sync with the direction of Arteta’s project, but he deserves more chances to prove that he can adapt.

Perhaps Jesus isn’t the number nine Arsenal need anymore, but he can still be very useful playing out wide when needed, a player who remains a huge asset in the press.

That being said, Alan Shearer has been blown away by Kai Havertz and all of the extra work he’s doing off the ball recently.

And it does now seems as if Havertz has lifted the bar beyond what Jesus is currently capable of.
