Arsenal fans question one thing after Ethan Nwaneri England debut
Ethan Nwaneri joined Jude Bellingham in the England record books after becoming the fourth youngest goal scorer for the Three Lions in a win over Portugal.
Arsenal fans have taken to X to share their reaction to the moment, one fan wrote: “A dream start for Ethan Nwaneri. Scoring on his first England U21 start is just the beginning- big things ahead for this young talent.”
There was more praise for Nwaneri with another fan writing: “Ten minutes is all it took for Ethan Nwaneri to make his mark- pure talent. The future is bright for this young star.”
However, there were some Gunners fans questioning why the Hale End star was not picked over Phil Foden in the senior squad, one fan wrote: “How has Nwaneri not been picked over that dud Foden?”
Another Arsenal fan wrote: “Well Thomas Tuchel won’t be making the same mistake again, Nwaneri bends in a sublime goal for the U21s whilst Phil Foden does his usual and goes missing for two games.”
Ethan Nwaneri’s trademark finish
There would have been butterflies in his stomach for sure representing England for on his full debut but it was just another thing that the 18-year-old has taken in his stride this season.
Nwaneri’s goal was a thing of beauty and a finish we have seen several times for Arsenal this campaign, shifting the ball inside on to his left foot and bending the ball with pace into the far corner.
With the return of Bukayo Saka to the Arsenal first-team squad imminent, it gives Mikel Arteta a dilemma as to where Nwaneri may fit into his Arsenal plans for the rest of the season.
Nwaneri has given so much from the right hand side but with Saka’s return, he may be switched to the left or even given a more prominent, central role in the team.
