Arsenal’s North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, have appointed Thomas Frank as their new manager.

Spurs celebrated winning the Europa League like it was the biggest trophy on the planet, only for the manager who won it to be sacked 16 days later.

Ange Postecoglou was shown the door by Tottenham, and they have now sealed the deal to bring Frank, who did a great job at Brentford.

Frank has always spoken well about Arsenal in the past, which is why Gooners have had a bit of a soft spot for him over the years.

Now, many of them will have to reluctantly change.

Arsenal fans react after Thomas Frank becomes the new Tottenham manager

There aren’t many managers in the Premier League who are universally popular among Arsenal fans.

Frank was one of the very few, not just because he was always complimentary of the Gunners and Mikel Arteta, but also because of how well he conducted himself.

That is why many Gooners are now gutted that he is joining the enemy.

One Arsenal fan said: “Thomas Frank, fantastic manager! I really liked him, now I’m going to have to hate him, always thought he would go to a big club.”

Another wrote: “Thomas Frank is a top manager. Spurs have done well getting him. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to now dislike him for no other reason than he’s the Spurs manager.”

“I’m pained that Thomas Frank went to Tottenham. Now he can never manage Arsenal,” tweeted another.

Another Gooner wrote: “Annoying. I like Thomas Frank. Now I’ve got to dislike him.”

Posting a video of one of the many times Frank praised Arsenal, another fan wrote: “Congratulations on appointing the biggest Arsenal fan in England. I’m sure your supporters are going to love his enthusiasm about the best team in London.”

Thomas Frank’s record vs Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta

As much as we hate to admit it, Frank is an excellent manager, and Tottenham, for once, have made a very good decision.

The Dane is tactically brilliant, is a great man-manager, and everyone who has worked with him has only ever had good things to say about him.

But, he is still no match for Mikel Arteta.

The one defeat the Spaniard suffered against Frank, as shown in the table above, came in Brentford’s first-ever game in the Premier League – Arsenal had several players missing due to COVID-19 in that game.

One of the two draws came when the VAR forgot to draw the lines in a game between the two clubs in February 2023.

Frank is good, but Arsenal fans have nothing to fear – Arteta is the better manager and the Gunners will remain the superior side in North London.
