Many Arsenal fans have now responded to the rumour linking the North London club with a move for Julian Alvarez this summer.

Arsenal are looking for ways to bolster their attacking contingent in this summer transfer window.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a number of attackers, as Mikel Arteta is clearly keen to add more firepower to his squad.

Arsenal are pushing to sign Viktor Gyokeres, whilst plenty of other forwards have been named as potential targets for the club.

One of the most recent names to come up in association with Arsenal is Manchester City star Julian Alvarez, who created speculation about his future with some recent comments that suggested his is somewhat unsettled at the Etihad Stadium.

This has given rise to rumours linking him with a switch to the Emirates Stadium. However, Arsenal have been told they’ll struggle to sign Alvarez, as Manchester City would surely be reluctant to strengthen the side that have been their closest challengers for the Premier League title in each of the last two seasons.

However, the prospect of signing the Argentine, no matter how remote the chances of it happening might be, has still prompted plenty of discussion.

Arsenal fans urge Mikel Arteta to forget about Julian Alvarez

Whilst the 2022 World Cup winner is undoubtedly a fine player, and his versatility would make him a useful addition to Arteta’s ranks, perhaps somewhat surprisingly many Arsenal fans on X are against the notion of signing him.

One said: “Nah, no more city players, we can’t take their bench players and try and get ahead of them in the league, don’t make sense.”

Another stated: “He is a decent player I must say but I am tired of Manchester City players.”

One supporter added: “Alvarez isn’t an upgrade to Jesus.”

One fan chipped in with: “No, the two citeh cast offs haven’t exactly been great signings, Jesus missing sitters, zinchenko costing us goals, so no thanks.”

Another said: “The question you should ask is if Man-city will even want to take the risk of selling any of their player to Arsenal again knowing we are becoming a biggest threat and rival to them.”

Another exclaimed: “Can’t believe what I’m seeing,no way is he a main striker,I rate Jesus more than him.”

Which striker should Arsenal sign?

Whilst Alvarez is an excellent player, he would not bring the physicality offered by Gyokeres. The Sweden international is a more robust presence at the top of the pitch, and offers a focal point for the Gunners to aim for.

Whilst he isn’t yet proven in the Premier League, the Sporting man is also in prolific form, having netted 43 times in 50 outings for the Portuguese outfit last season. Gyokeres should be Arteta’s top target at this time.
