Arsenal will travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham in a Premier League clash this afternoon.

Mikel Arteta will recognise the importance of this fixture, as it is vital that the Gunners can maintain their recent positive momentum.

Arsenal have a chance to pile some pressure on Liverpool, after the Reds’ Merseyside derby clash with Everton was postponed on Saturday due to poor weather conditions. The North London club can now reduce Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League table, albeit with Arne Slot’s side retaining a game in hand.

However, the Gunners cannot afford to be distracted from the task that they face against Fulham, and will have to be at their best to get the three points that they need.

With referee Chris Kavanagh taking charge of Fulham vs Arsenal, supporters of Arteta’s side will also be concerned that he could impact the result.

What Arsenal fans have said about referee Chris Kavanagh

Arsenal fans have taken aim at Kavanagh before, after he sent off Declan Rice earlier this season during a clash with Brighton.

The England midfielder was shown a second yellow card for tapping the ball out of play after the Seagulls had been awarded a free kick and Kavanagh deemed him to have been delaying a restart. Arsenal supporters claimed that it was a “shocking” decision.

Now, Arsenal fans on X are less than thrilled by the prospect of Kavanagh overseeing matters at Craven Cottage.

One said: “Good grief.”

Another claimed: “This guy that likes to give us red cards.”

Another stated: “Here we go again.”

One Arsenal fan admitted: “I have a bad feeling about this.”

Another warned: “We are playing against 12 men today.”

Why Arsenal need to be careful vs Fulham

Rice and the rest of his Arsenal teammates will need to take care not to overstep any lines with Kavanagh today.

Suspensions have already hurt the North London club in the Premier League this season, and they can’t afford to sustain another.

Arteta must impress upon his players the importance of not giving Kavanagh a reason to get his cards out. This will be a test of his squad’s maturity.
