Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will remain in North London throughout the international break.
Arsenal star Thomas Partey has had more than his fair share of injuries in recent years.
However, the Ghanaian star has begun the new season as a regular in Mikel Arteta’s team. Partey has started Arsenal’s first seven Premier League games of this campaign so far, a feat he has never previously managed for the Gunners.
However, Partey has now been stricken with a medical issue. Due to illness, the 31-year-old will not travel to represent Ghana in their upcoming double-header against Sudan in this international break.
The decision has been made for Partey remain at the Emirates Stadium, and focus on getting back to full health. Meanwhile, Arteta will be relieved that it is only illness that has Partey out of action at this moment in time, rather than a recurrence of the injury issues that have plagued him since his arrival at the club.

Arsenal fans react to Thomas Partey news
Having seen club captain Martin Odegaard succumb to injury during the last international break, Arsenal fans on X are pleased to see that Arteta is taking no chances with Partey. Kai Havertz has also withdrawn from international duty on this occasion with a minor injury complaint.
One said: “Arteta is learning fast.”
Another added: “Finally, the club is “learning” from previous their mistakes. We need a fully fit Partey to win the league this season.”
One supporter stated: “Loving what arteta is now doing. Brilliant.”
Whilst another claimed: “I would say thank you for Odegaard, now we have the reason to withdraw from the international break.”
One chipped in with: “Great now we need to apply same rule to Saka, Saliba & Rice.”
Another commented: “Not releasing Partey and Havertz. Finally learning not to send players away on these , completely, irrelevant, pointless international breaks.”
Mikel Arteta’s plan for Partey
Whilst Partey has been a regular starter for Arsenal so far this season, with Mikel Merino having now returned to full fitness it is expected that he shall gradually establish himself in the first choice XI.
This means that Partey is likely to be given a more supporting role, but given his fitness record, which demonstrates that he is unlikely to last a full season of being asked to play week in, week out, this may be no bad thing as far as the former Atletico Madrid man is concerned.
