What sources are saying about Kai Havertz’s injury after withdrawing from Germany to stay at Arsenal

Back in September, Arsenal fans were incredibly frustrated when Martin Odegaard was injured on international duty for Norway, an issue he’s still recovering from.

Shortly before Odegaard went away with Norway, the Arsenal captain was substituted following a bit of discomfort during the draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Odegaard was visibly in pain whilst sat on the bench at the Emirates Stadium, and yet the midfielder still proceeded to head out for Norway’s games.

Of course, Norway wouldn’t have played Odegaard were there any signs of risk, but with the benefit of hindsight it now seems best that he had just rested over that break.

That being said, Odegaard was spotted without a protective boot at the Emirates last weekend, a good omen for his speedy return.

Kai Havertz’s ankle injury is not one to be ‘overly concerned’ about

Perhaps with the Odegaard situation in mind, Kai Havertz withdrew from Germany’s upcoming internationals, citing an ankle issue.

In response, Arsenal fans were pleased that the club and player had appeared to have taken the ‘no risks’ route, one that some of their Premier League rivals chose in September.

Havertz didn’t appear to be injured during his masterclass against Southampton on the weekend, but came away with some discomfort.

And whilst Arsenal fans will be pleased that Havertz will be resting in north London, they’ll also be hoping that his issue isn’t serious.

With that in mind, journalist Charles Watts has just provided an important update in that regard.

Sharing the news on X, the journalist said Havertz’s injury is only minor, suggesting that the club are simply being cautious.

Watts said: “The sense right now is that the Havertz situation is not one to be overly concerned about.

“He was fine to finish the game on Sat. But he’s played a lot of football, so it was thought best for him to stay, rest and just be monitored by Arsenal over the next few days. No risks.”

Danny Welbeck sends Arsenal fans into the break in good spirits

Of course, Havertz isn’t the only striker who has pleased Arsenal fans this weekend.

Former Gunner Danny Welbeck took the sword to Tottenham on Sunday evening, scoring the winning goal in a 3-2 comeback win.

Arsenal fans had a lot to say about Welbeck afterwards, with some even wishing that he’d return to the club to replace Gabriel Jesus.

Perhaps that message was a little bit in jest, but Jesus is struggling to make an impact whilst playing second-fiddle to Havertz.

Jesus angered Bukayo Saka in one moment against Southampton, a player who doesn’t quite seem to be on the same wavelength as his teammates right now.
