Arsenal fans laud Mikel Merino as he wins the World Cup with Spain against Argentina

Arsenal’s Mikel Merino played a crucial role as Spain won the World Cup against Argentina.

The Spanish dominated Lionel Messi’s Argentina and it was a winning goal from former Arsenal target Ferran Torres that sealed the deal in extra time.

As for the Arsenal contingent, Mikel Merino played a crucial role while Martin Zubimendi also got his first minutes of the tournament to help Spain over the line as well. As for David Raya, he remained on the bench but will pocket a medal nonetheless.

The focus for most Arsenal fans though has been on Merino. After being injured for much of last season, he played a crucial role for Spain all summer and very nearly won the game himself with a header.

And once again, over on social media, Arsenal fans have been lauding Merino for his efforts.
