Many Arsenal fans were impressed with one thing saw David Raya do against Crystal Palace.
David Raya is now the established first-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal, with Aaron Ramsdale something of an outcast figure at the club these days.
This changing of the guard between the sticks has been one of the most contentious issues at Arsenal this season. Ramsdale remains a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium, and Mikel Arteta has come under fire for his treatment of the England man.
However, Raya is clearly the Spanish coach’s preferred picked. For all of Arteta’s talk of regularly rotating his goalkeepers throughout the season, there has been no sign of such a policy ever being put into action since Raya first came into the starting XI shortly after his arrival from Brentford in the recent summer transfer window.
Raya has had some shaky moments between the sticks this season, and has drawn the ire of Arsenal fans at times, but he now looks to be settled and comfortable at the club, who are planning to imminently shell out £27 million to convert his initial loan move into a permanent transfer.

Arsenal fans praise David Raya moment v Crystal Palace
Although he was not unduly tested by Crystal Palace, Raya produced a solid performance on Saturday and kept another clean sheet.
The 28-year-old particularly caught the eye in one moment in the second half. In the 59th minute, the Spanish shot-stopper collected the ball from a Crystal Palace set piece delivery and rushed to the edge of his box, where he spotted a run being made by Gabriel Jesus.
Raya hurled a fast and accurate long throw out to the Brazilian striker, who spearheaded to counter-attack. Jesus then played the ball across to Leandro Trossard, who cut inside his attendant defender and fired the ball into the back of the net.
Plenty of Arsenal fans on X were keen to highlight Raya’s all-important role in the goal. One supporter said this was “his best performance superb throw, I had him as dodgy on crosses after the Newcastle / Mudryk goal.” Another fan declared the display a “masterclass from David Raya.”
One other fan said, “I think this answers our questions why David Raya starts ahead of Ramsdale.” Another supporter stated, “David Raya is the reason we scored this goal. PERIOD!”
