Arsenal fans are very concerned about the possibility of Cesc Fabregas replacing Mikel Arteta at the end of the season, given the Spaniard’s inexperience at the top level.
Arteta is now coming under pressure at Arsenal following three defeats in four, which has left the Gunners’ hopes of silverware in real danger.
👀 Who should be Arsenal’s manager at the start of next season: Mikel Arteta or Cesc Fabregas?
Fabregas has been linked with the Arsenal job as the North London club reportedly lines up possible replacements in case Arteta is sacked.
However, the Gunners’ supporters have taken a very strong stance over the former midfielder, and they don’t seem particularly keen on him.
Arsenal fans do not want Cesc Fabregas to replace Mikel Arteta
Plenty of Arsenal fans are against the idea of Cesc Fabregas replacing Mikel Arteta as the manager of the football club.
Right now, Arsenal plan to offer Arteta a new contract, although talks have been postponed until the end of the season in order to focus on winning the Premier League.
In the past, Fabregas has already said he’d rejoin Arsenal, but now that could actually become a reality, with links to him back in Spain.
The 38-year-old is one of the most promising young managers in Europe and is doing a very decent job over in Serie A with Como.
However, given his age and inexperience in the Premier League, the Gunners’ supporters have concerns over his appointment.
Following the recent links in Spain, Arsenal fans have given their reaction to the possibility of Fabregas taking the reins from Arteta.
- “Sacking Mikel and also bringing an inexperienced coach who hasn’t managed any club in the Premier League is not good news.
- “Even if the club decides to sack Mikel if he did not win the title, Arsenal needs to get an experienced coach like Pep, Luis Enrique. We don’t want another young manager.”
- “We need a seasoned winner! I want Luis Enrique if Arteta fails to win the Premier League.”
- “If Arsenal move on from Mikel Arteta, the replacement has to be a proven winner. Cesc Fabregas has impressed at Como, but promising is not the same as proven at the highest level. At a club like Arsenal, the next step should be pedigree, not potential.”
- “If this happened, I’d be very underwhelmed. He’s a chequebook manager who’s won nothing because he’s a rookie. Also, his comments when Como lost to Inter were very disappointing. Managers should be pragmatic when required, but Fabregas appears to be stubborn like Arteta.”
- “Fabregas is a very premature option. I don’t want us to be a field of experiments.”
Were Arsenal to sack Arteta, they would surely be better suited to looking at other Spanish options like a Luis Enrique or Xabi Alonso.
The fans are right, Arsenal do not need to take risks on another inexperienced coach and should back themselves to bring in a proven winner like Enrique or Alonso.
Enrique has worked wonders transforming Paris Saint-Germain into European champions, and Alonso did an amazing job at Bayer Leverkusen, taking the title from Bayern Munich.
