Arsenal will face Mansfield Town in the 5th round of the FA Cup as Mikel Arteta’s side look to continue their quadruple hopes.

The Gunners eased past Wigan at the weekend to advance past round four for the first time since 2020.

Arsenal’s draw against Mansfield means they have a golden opportunity to progress into the quarter-finals and realistically give themselves a huge chance of advancing.

Nigel Clough’s side have been brilliant in getting to this stage as Clough looks to repeat his success from Sheffield United all the way back in 2014.

Arsenal fans…how many goals can you put last Mansfield Town in the 5th round of the FA Cup?

Of course, for Arsenal fans, this is a golden tie really. A chance to go to one of the lower league grounds they might not get to visit, and also a chance for their team to pick up what should be an easy win.

Indeed, over on social media, plenty of Arsenal fans had their say on the tie.

Arsenal fans will be expecting their team to go through here and while some will say it’s tricky to go to a lower league ground, Mikel Arteta will fancy it.

Over on X, Arsenal fans seemed delighted with the news as well, with one fan commenting ‘what a draw’ upon seeing the news.

More fans also reacted, as one commented:

“Spent the whole days saying we’d get Newcastle and City would get Mansfield and we go and get them’

Another suggested the stars are aligning.

“We normally get terrible luck in the cup draws but we can’t complain at all this season can we?’

While that good feeling followed, with another fan suggesting ‘it might actually be our year’ and another agreeing, adding ‘it could be the season you know’.

Certainly, Arsenal couldn’t have asked for much else really, while the neutral fan gets a tie which could produce one of the biggest shocks ever.

Arsenal’s record against Mansfield Town

Remarkably, the two sides have only met once in the past.

That clash came back in 1929, with Arsenal running out as 1-0 winners in another FA Cup clash.

It goes without saying, then, that this will feel like a massive occasion for Mansfield and Nigel Clough will love nothing more than to be just like his Dad and upset the apple cart.

As for the Gunners, this should be an easy pass into the next round but as we know in football, anything can happen.
